Vitreous Infiltration in Chronic Myelogenous Leukaemia
Glaskörperinfiltration bei chronischer myeloischer LeukämiePublikationsverlauf
Publikationsdatum:

Background
Leukaemia is a neoplasm of the hematopoietic system: it is classified by the lineage and differentiation of the malignant cell. Ocular involvement is common in leukaemia patients and results either from direct leukemic infiltration or from secondary haematological abnormalities such as anaemia, thrombocytopenia, hyperviscosity, and immunosuppression [1]. Leukemic infiltration affects usually the choroid and the retina [2]. However, vitreous infiltration is extremely rare: only a few cases in acute leukaemia have been reported [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] and, as far as we are aware, only one case in chronic myelogenous leukaemia [8].
We present a case of chronic myelogenous leukaemia associated with extensive vitreous infiltration.
