Keith Isaacson, M.D.

In this issue of Seminars in Reproductive Medicine we look at a very important topic, the role of reproductive surgery. I was able to recruit Dr. Keith Isaacson to serve as guest editor for this issue, and he has brought together an excellent group of authors who cover in depth the current role and approach of surgery in the field of reproduction.

Dr. Isaacson graduated cum laude from Tulane University with honors in biology in 1979 and attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was awarded a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently board certified in reproductive endocrinology and general obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Isaacson was the division director of reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Massachusetts General Hospital from 1991 until 2001. He then opened a center for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and infertility at Newton Wellesley Hospital, where he is currently director of the residency and fellowship program for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and infertility.

Dr. Isaacson is the immediate past president of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons and the current secretary treasurer for the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He is a member of key surgical societies and editorial boards, has been awarded several competitive research grants, and has published extensively on the role of surgery in reproduction. He is a sought after speaker and has presented at both national and international venues.
