Significance
(-)-Viriditoxin was originally isolated from the mold Aspergillus viridinutans and is a potent inhibitor of filamenting temperature-sensitive mutant Z (FtsZ), a protein involved in cell division. The absolute configuration at C3 had been determined, but the axial configuration was unknown.
