Pharmacologically Side effects and urinary incontinence

Urinary incontinence is an important usually underestimated problem not only in postoperative conditions but also in geriatrics, palliative care and neurology. Beside disease induced bladder disturbances a bigger part is caused by disease related pharmacological interventions. Due to the symptom variety diagnosis and therapy are often difficult. An interdisciplinary cooperation of diverse medical departments and other health care professional are required.

Urinary incontinence belongs to the most compromising adverse effects. The knowledge about the different categories of bladder disturbances, the possibly underlying pharmacological reasons and the therapeutic options is indispensable especially for the maintenance of quality of life and the symptom adapted therapy.

This presentation gives an overview about prevalence, symptoms and therapy pharmacological induced urinary incontinence from the neurological point of view.
