Significance

The authors have developed an efficient synthesis of chiral 1,2-diamines from aminoalkane derivatives and imines. 9-Fluorenylidene was used as the protecting and activating group of the amine. By selective deprotection, the desired monoamines and diamines were obtained. A preliminary study of asymmetric catalysis was also carried out and promising results were obtained (syn/anti = 78:22, er (syn) = 87:13).
