Summary

This communication describes the real identity of the by Rand isolated mould Phyllosticta caryae Peck. Elucidation of the structure of the main pigment of this mould, compared with that of Elsinoe species, proves complete identity of the pigment. It seems therefore certain that the so–called Phyllosticta caryae Peck is an imperfect from (Sphaceloma) of Elsinoe randii.
