Abstract

A study of the free sugars and mucilages of Psyllium seeds, moghat roots, Malva roots, leaves and flowers as well as Althaee roots and leaves is presented. The sugar components of the hydrolysate of the mucilages were determined by quantitative paper chromatography. The viscosity of the separated mucilages was also determined.
