RECIPROCAL CROSS DIFFERENCES IN DIGITALIS LANATA × D. LUTEA

Abstract

D. lanata and D. lutea were reciprocally crossed with a view to transfer resistance to virus disease from D. lutea to D. lanata. Both the reciprocal F1's were vigorous but sterile. Out of the ten characters studied reciprocal differences were statistically significant in number of leaves and branches per plant and pedicel length. The differences were explained on the basis of plasmon–sensitive genes hypothesis.
