Summary

The results of 75 peritoneoscopic examinations of 68 children are presented. The youngest infant was 2œ months old. The analysis of the diagnoses revealed many kinds of interesting observations: among them we observed frequently liver cirrhosis in infancy, chronic hepatitis and in cases of obstructive jaundice not only the expected congenital atresias of bile-ducts but also tumors in four cases. The diagnosis of an unexplored disease of the liver could be determined in 82.5% of the cases by peritoneoscopy. Therefore peritoneoscopy and controlled punction of the liver are extremely important methods of examination far too seldom used in pediatrics.
