Summary
Cryosurgery of the prostate represents a step forward in the treatment of the small group of patients with a very high operative mortality risk. Cryosurgery cannot replace the conventional surgical methods, suprapubic prostatectomy as well as transurethral resection, but may lower the mortality rate and widen the indication. The results in 56 patients are reported and discussed.
Electrohydraulic lithotripsy was performed in 36 cases. The advantages of the method are pointed out.
