Abstract

Two new flavonolignans hydnowightin and neohydnocarpin isolated from Hydnocarpus wightiana (Blume) seed coats have been assigned structures II and IVa on the basis of chemical degradations and spectral properties. A tentative biogenetic scheme for their formation has also been proposed.
