Abstract

Callus cultures were set up on solid medium from roots of asepticly raised plants of Digitalis purpurea and D. lanata. The calli were cultivated in vitro for about one year, one part in permanent light another in permanent darkness. The chemical investigation at this time showed that calli of the roots produce cardenolides, however, in different patterns and in lower concentrations than callus cultures set up from overground parts of the same plants.
