Abstract

A protein obtained from human term placentas evoked crop sac stimulation in pigeons, both by local and systemic injection. A dose-response curve was determined for this action. In spite of these findings, this protein inhibited the mammary growth produced by estradiol and progesterone in castrated rats as evaluated by observation of whole mounts and histological sections of the glands and by dry fefatted tissue weighings and nuclei acids analysis.
