Significance

Porphyrins are a class of molecules that display interesting optical and electronic properties. Methods of modifying these molecules therefore have merits in that they provide routes toward novel porphyrin architectures. The authors report an efficient method of synthesizing norbornane-bridged diporphyrins; a method which maybe further explored to synthesize oligomeric porphyrins which may have interesting properties.
