Significance
This is a practical protocol for the coupling of aryl iodides with terminal alkynes, using nontoxic and inexpensive Fe/Cu bimetallic catalysis. Various aryl and heteroaryl iodides react smoothly. Functional groups like cyano and nitro are well tolerated. This process can also be useful for industrial chemistry due to its versatility and the environmentally benign catalysts.
