Significance

The copper(I)-catalyzed enantioselective diamination of several conjugated dienes is realized (up to 74% ee are obtained) through the use of a bulky bisphosphine ligand and di-tert-butyldiaziridinone as nitrogen source. The resulting vicinal diamine products are very important chiral building blocks. Further improvement of enantioselectivity is anticipated to make this transformation more practical.
