Significance

Addition reactions with allenyl metal reagents often suffer from regioselectivity issues and lead to isomeric mixtures. Although the reaction’s efficiency could be improved, the chiral chromium catalyst TBOxCrCl is unique in allowing to obtain single products in high enantioselectivity. Moreover, it avoids drawbacks associated with other methods (i.e., low regioselectivity, toxic reagents, lengthy starting material preparation).
