Significance

This report shows how a matched stereocontrol between the substrate and a chiral analogue of Crabtree’s catalyst can give very high diastereomeric ratios in Ir-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenations. The methodology was applied to a key step in the synthesis of (-)-dihydromyoporone.
