Abstract

It is important to identify early risk factors for hearing loss because there are significant advantages of early identification for hearing improvement and significant consequences for late identification of hearing impairment. A great deal of discussion has evolved as to which children up to age five should be tested and when the testing should occur. Various screening techniques have been developed and these are important for the direction of future research in the diagnosis and management of hearing impairment in infants and children.
