Die Autismus-Spektrum-Störung ist eine tiefgreifende lebenslange Entwicklungsstörung, deren Kernmerkmale bereits in der Kindheit vorliegende Beeinträchtigungen der sozialen Kommunikation sowie restriktive repetitive Verhaltensweisen sind. Sie zeigt Symptomüberlappungen zu zahlreichen anderen Entwicklungs- und psychischen Störungen, daher hat die Differenzialdiagnostik hohe Relevanz und die Diagnosestellung sollte durch eine spezialisierte Stelle erfolgen.
Kernaussagen

  • Die Autismus-Spektrum-Störung (ASS) ist gekennzeichnet durch klinisch relevante Auffälligkeiten, die sich bereits in den ersten Lebensjahren manifestieren.

  • Es liegen anhaltende Beeinträchtigungen in der sozialen Kommunikation und Interaktion über verschiedene Kontexte hinweg vor, in Kombination mit eingeschränkten, repetitiven Verhaltensmustern, Interessen oder Aktivitäten.

  • Der vielfältigen Pathologie und Heterogenität liegt eine komplexe genetische Ätiologie zugrunde, die mit einer reduzierten synaptischen Plastizität neuronaler Netzwerke einhergeht.

  • Die Symptomatik stellt ein grundlegendes situationsunabhängiges Funktionsmerkmal der Person dar.

  • Die Symptomatik geht mit Einschränkungen der Anpassungsfähigkeit und der Lebensqualität einher und persistiert über die Lebensspanne.

  • Mittels frühzeitiger therapeutischer Interventionen kann die Symptomatik bedeutend gebessert, aber nicht geheilt werden.

  • Die Behandlung von häufig vorliegenden Komorbiditäten ist für den Verlauf zentral.

  • Mittels verhaltenstherapeutischer Interventionen können die Lebensqualität und das Outcome deutlich verbessert werden.
