ZUSAMMENFASSUNG
Psilocybe mexicana R. Heim ist ein
Pilz mit langer ethnopharmakologischer Tradition, der als wirkungsbestimmende
Inhaltsstoffe Psilocybin und Psilocin enthält. Die psychostimulierende,
halluzinogene Wirkung wurde bisher vor allem in traditionellen Zeremonien der indigenen
Bevölkerung Mittel- und Südamerikas genutzt. Die Eignung als
Therapeutikum für verschiedene psychische Krankheiten, wie der Depression, soll
in aktuellen klinischen Studien untersucht werden. Noch ist die Studienlage nicht
ausreichend und sind zugrundeliegende Mechanismen nicht abschließend
geklärt.
Abstract
Psilocybe mexicana R. Heim, commonly referred to as magic mushroom, is a
mushroom with long ethnopharmacological tradition. Psilocybin and the active
metabolite psilocin are the components that determine the pharmacological effects.
Native Americans use the psychostimulating and hallucinogenic effects for their
traditional ceremonies. Ongoing clinical trials aim at introducing psilocybin as a
therapeutic agent for psychological disorders such as major depressions. However,
the current findings from clinical trials are not sufficient enough and the
underlying biochemical mechanisms have not yet been conclusively clarified.
