Als letzte Chance auf den Zahnerhalt ist die Wurzelspitzenresektion (WSR), als ein Baustein der periradikulären Chirurgie, ein häufig durchgeführter oralchirurgischer Eingriff. Um den teilweise kontrovers diskutierten Ruf als z. B. „Herauszögern der Extraktion“ oder „letzte Chance den Zahn zu retten“ genauer zu beleuchten, muss zur erfolgreichen Wurzelspitzenresektion auch immer die richtige Indikationsstellung und die richtige operative Technik Berücksichtigung finden.
