Annieke W. Gotink et al. Individual risk calculator to predict lymph node metastases in patients with submucosal (T1b) esophageal adenocarcinoma: a multicenter cohort study

In this retrospective study of 248 patients with pT1b esophageal adenocarcinoma, a model was developed for prediction of metastasis after endoscopic resection and/or surgery. Risk factors for metastasis included submucosal invasion depth, lymphovascular invasion, and larger tumor size. These factors served as important predictors to guide subsequent treatment, for example salvage surgery.
