Strahlentherapie

Sollen Tumorpatienten vor einer Bestrahlung einen β-Rezeptor-Blocker, beispielsweise Propranolol, zur Dämpfung der β-adrenergen Stressreaktion erhalten, um die Wirkung der Strahlentherapie zu verbessern? Diesen Schluss legen Daten einer US-Arbeitsgruppe nahe, die jetzt hochkarätig in „Nature Communications“ veröffentlicht wurden. Sie wiesen eine starke Assoziation zwischen der Wirksamkeit der Bestrahlung und dem Ausmaß der Aktivierung der Stresshormone Noradrenalin und Adrenalin nach.
