Die Indikationen für kardiale MRT-Untersuchungen (CMR) sind vielfältig, ebenso wie die untersuchten Patienten. Uhlig und seine Kollegen beschäftigten sich in ihrer Studie mit den gadoliniumassoziierten Komplikationen und nutzten dazu die Daten des multizentrischen MRCT Registry der European Society of Cardiovascular Radiology (ESCR). Insgesamt werteten sie 72 839 CMR-Untersuchungen aus den Jahren 2013 bis 2016 aus.
