Abstract

Allergologic diseases in childhood present with various clinical symptoms. The broadening spectre of specific IgE to recombinant allergens refines diagnostic tools and helps to understand aetiological relationship of allergic symptoms. Food-associated allergies and intolerances are increasing and require, especially in childhood, a rapid clarification of the culprit allergen. Recommendations in diagnostics of drug allergy are summarized in a recent german guideline. Eczema often is atopy associated but might be the clinical symptom of contact allergy. New emerging contact allergens, as isobornylacrylate in continuous glucose monitoring devices, should be taken into account.
