Was ist eigentlich „konservativ“? Im lateinischen Wortsinn bedeutet konservativ „bewahrend“. In der politischen Sphäre bezieht sich der Begriff auf 1. die Erhaltung von materiellen und immateriellen Gütern, 2. den Glauben an die Unvollkommenheit der menschlichen Natur, 3. die Betonung der großen Bedeutung von menschlicher Kultur und 4. eine Abwehr von revolutionären Tendenzen [1]. „Liberal“ bedeutet dem gegenüber im Wortsinn „freiheitlich“.
