Abstract

This chapter is an update to the earlier Science of Synthesis contribution (Section 14.4.11) describing methods for the synthesis of 9H-xanthene-9-thiones. This update describes the use of thionation reagents for the preparation of 9H-xanthene-9-thiones from pre-existing xanthene-type cyclic frameworks.
