Abstract
This review provides a summary of synthetic approaches to germanides. The described methods involve digermane cleavage, reduction of halogermanes, nucleophilic abstraction of silyl, germyl, or stannyl groups, hydrogermane deprotonation, nucleophilic addition to germylenes, and transmetalation. It covers literature from the 1950s until 2019.
