Abstract
The clinical evaluation of the pediatric patient with spinal deformity requires a thorough and focused history and physical examination. Although patients are frequently referred to a spine surgeon for idiopathic scoliosis, a complete musculoskeletal assessment is paramount to assess for any underlying disorders that may cause spinal deformity. Subtle aspects of the clinical history or physical examination may provide key insights into the nature of the deformity. These findings, along with the timeline of spinal deformity, medical history, and radiographic assessment allow for informed and appropriate management.
