Abstract

A new triterpenoid sapogenin, butyracic acid, 2β,3β,6α,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic acid, has been isolated from Madhuca butyracea leaves in addition to six known compounds. The structure of these compounds have been established by spectral data and chemical reactions.
