Statistic informations about medicinal plant cultivation in Western Germany for the year 1958 are given:

1. 75 % of the area covered by medicinal plants is found in the countries „Bayern” and „Niedersachsen”.

2. 288 ha (– 42 % of the area covered by typically medicinal plants) are devoted to Mentha piperita. 93 % of peppermint cultures are to be found in „Bayern”.

3. The area covered by caraway (200 ha) was reduced in 1958 by 44 %.
